Why should the servo motor be equipped with a reducer?

The servo motor is equipped with a reducer to increase the torque. When the load is heavy, it is not cost-effective to simply increase the power of the servo motor. Therefore, it is reasonable to select a servo reducer with an appropriate reduction ratio within the required speed range. The servo stepping motor reducer itself is intended to slow down the speed and improve the output torque.

Generally speaking, servo system manufacturers do not produce reducers. Therefore, the servo motor and the configured reducer are basically reducers of other brands.

Connection mode of reducer and servo motor:

Holding mode - the output shaft of the servo motor extends into the reducer, and the servo motor is connected with the reducer through a flange. There is a deformable hoop in the reducer. By operating the locking screw on the reducer, the hoop can hold the shaft of the servo motor tightly.

The connection is made by means of an external coupling. This connection mode uses an external coupling, so it requires servo motor and keyway. The external coupling can also use flexible coupling (flexible shaft) - the drive power of flexible shaft generally does not exceed 5.5KW, and the speed can reach 20000 rpm.
