How to select the type of planetary gear reducer

Planetary gear reducer is the main type of reducer matching servo motor. When selecting planetary gear reducer, the following methods should be adopted:

First, determine the reduction ratio of the gear reducer. If the standard gear reducer does not have the reduction ratio you need, please select a close or customized gear reducer.

After determining the reduction ratio, determine the maximum working torque. Please multiply the rated torque of your selected servo motor by the reduction ratio, and the value obtained shall be less than the rated output torque of similar reducers provided in the product catalog in principle. At the same time, the overload capacity of its drive motor and the maximum working torque required in practice shall be considered. The maximum working torque required shall be marked at 2 positions of the rated output torque.

After the above conditions are met, please select the reducer with the smallest volume. The reducer with small volume has relatively low cost.

Next, consider the return clearance of the planetary gear reducer. The smaller the return clearance, the higher the accuracy and the higher the cost. Users need to select a series of reducers that meet their accuracy requirements.

Transverse/radial force and average life shall also be considered. The reducer with large lateral/radial force has high reliability in installation and use, and is not easy to have problems. Generally, its average life is much longer than the life of the servo motor.
